Welcome and thank you for your interest in the 49th Annual Swim Around Key West (12.5 miles). Please carefully read all of the information provided in the various sections of our website.
The open water swim is heavily reliant on the tides and weather conditions. This is why the dates and starting times change from year to year. The swim start time is determined by the incoming and outgoing tides around the island. The idea is to have swimmers catch some good tide rides going through the Key West Harbor, under Fleming Key Bridge and all the way up to Sigsbee Park Marina on Dredgers Key at mile 6. When they make the turn around Dredgers Key they should be catching the outgoing tide to Cow Key Channel and under the Cow Key Channel bridge going another mile to the Atlantic Ocean, where they will swim around the corner and continue to swim the last 4 miles to the finish line.

Swimmers are responsible for obtaining their own support kayaker and kayak. If you are unable to find a support kayaker with a sea worthy kayak, you may contact David Chen at (954) 802-8322 or Anna Fugina at (941) 286-2722 who will attempt to find a kayaker for you. Please keep in mind that support kayakers will require a minimum $200 financial remuneration to offset their accommodations expenses paid directly to the kayaker.
Swimmers who have their own support kayaker but would like to rent a kayak and have it delivered to Higgs Beach on the morning of the swim with all the required supplies, paddle, life jacket, and whistle, contact either of the following rental companies.

No Waiting List: Once we cap a category, it is closed and there is no waiting list.
No Refund Policy: In the unfortunate case you need to cancel, there will be no refund of any application fees. In the unfortunate event we must cancel the swim there will be no refund of the application fees. Please don’t ask for a refund.
Registration Closes: April 24, 2025
The Annual Swim Around Key West has chosen to donate any profit to the Florida Keys Children’s Shelter.
